An innovative car park in Sundbyberg
The expanded metal protects and characterizes the circular building
To cover the needs of the parking area, the renowned danish studio Architect 3XN A/S designed an innovative spiral building that can accommodate around 1,000 parking spaces in Sundbyberg, near Stockholm. The cars are not parked on a classic flat surface, but are housed along the helical spiral of movement between the floors.
Built with a circular plan, it is covered by a metal façade characterized by three levels of expanded metal arranged to embrace the circular shape of the car park horizontally, vertically and even obliquely, with a random arrangement. The MTC LA 400 metal mesh was used, made with different openings. The 400 mm extended module is an exclusive of the Ultra Limites Line.
Thanks to the external expanded metal mesh covering, the garage can enjoy an excellent opening percentage for ventilation. In this way the air can circulate freely and the fumes of the cars are dispersed.
